Dentro da atual poesia brasileira, eu colocaria Barbosa Lagos na descendência e na confluência dos grande poetas satíricos, como Gregório de Mattos, e de um antilírico moderno como Manuel Bandeira, que em sua “Poética” diz estar farto do lirismo comedido, do lirismo “funcionário público com livro de ponto expediente protocolo e manifestações de apreço ao Sr. diretor”.
