  1. An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer
you simply didn’t refuse. Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.

Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes,
sure didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things
on the menu, but no one paid them much heed.
This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few better dishes on earth…only the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to
be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand,
went quiet. Until last year, when she reopened as a members’
club in another Mayfair backstreet. But a £2,000 a year membership fee
proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near
empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very stern man. The soft,
crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps,
indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate
beats throbs in the background. The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty,
clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover
    in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur
that tastes far better than it ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a glut of
    the noisily, glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and
charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance
of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.
Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides
whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a study in tuber art.
A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is
ridiculous. But there are few better dishes on earth.
I’d eat this every day if I could. But I can’t. Obviously.
That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

  2. Lady Gaga is ‘disappointed’ at the immense flood of negative reactions to
Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer’s team now keen to quickly
push out other projects to help distract from the furor over the film, insiders claim.

Todd Phillips‘ sequel was officially released in theaters on October 4,
but despite expectations, it bombed, raking in just under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history.

Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for
her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the Joker
    – a role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake of the standing ovation it received at the Venice Film Festival last month.

‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people
don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered,’ a source exclusively
    told DailyMail.com.

‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base.’

Lady Gaga is ‘disappointed’ at the immense flood of negative reactions
    to Joker: Folie à Deux

They added: ‘Her team is quietly looking at other projects they
can roll out as they want to move on this from as quickly as possible.’

But despite the lackluster reception from fans,
a second source claimed she is not letting it deter her from returning to the big
screen, with the singer said to be eyeing up a Quentin Tarantino movie.

‘She is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb,’
    they said.

‘She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the
first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar.

‘She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s
next and final film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to
    audition.

‘She’s going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him once
a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment
    for her to be involved.’

Tarantino was set to create The Movie Critic which
would have been his tenth and final film, but on April 17, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the project was canceled.

The famed director is now believed to be working up a new project to mark his final cinematic release.

The singer’s team is now keen to push out other
projects to help distract from the backlash, insiders have told DailyMail.com

Joker: Folie à Deux has flopped at the box office, with the
psychological musical thriller also landing the lowest
CinemaScore for a comic book movie

Gaga, real name is Stefani Germanotta, is hoping the Joker
2 flop will just be a small blip in her career, after
the film received a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic book movie.

Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and
also received terrible reviews — holds the higher score of C+.

Joker notably opened with $96.2 million on its theater release in 2019 and eventually took a little over $1 billion in the global box office.

The first movie – which was also directed by Phillips – had a
budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the
budget more than doubled to around $200 million for Folie À Deux.

The sequel screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.

It had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but the number drastically dropped amid mixed reviews before release.

Audiences have since shared their opinions on the sequel, which features multiple musical sequences.

‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this,’ wrote one on X.

    ‘What happened to the script?’

Another user added: ‘Stop making sequels as musicals
if the original wasn’t a musical.’

An insider told DailyMail.com: ‘Gaga is surprised by the
response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered’

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ shared a third,
along with a monkey staring out a window.

One fan branded it ‘bad,’ adding:’ It was pretentious
and dull. Has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without
    the substance.

‘It also insults the audience’s intelligence.
the songs were also underwhelming too. They shouldn’t have
    let this escape to theaters.’

Another said: ‘The audience that loved the first movie is not the same audience
running to see musicals. This was a gigantic mistake from step 1.’

Many social media users have also slammed the movie’s final scene, which saw Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck brutally stabbed to death by a fellow
inmate who could in fact by the real Joker.

But others did jump in in defense of the film, with one hailing it ‘amazing.’

‘100% as divisive as people are making it out to be,’ they continued.
‘I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to
the storytelling they presented. It never deviated to be a film full
of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

Another user said: ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was
structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom and the musical
elements were a lot of fun.’

Another source explained: ‘Gaga thought that this film
could get her an Oscar nomination’ (pictured director Todd Phillips, Gaga and Phoenix in September)

The insider explained: ‘She would now like to land a
role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film’

One user claimed the film is ‘getting universal hate despite being more interesting and creative than anything
marvel has done in years is expected.’

‘Joker 2 is genuinely such a clever movie which carries the character
study format of the first movie into the second in a way which, surprisingly, will floor you by the end,’ declared another.

‘I’m astounded reception is this bad because this
    is SUCH a clever movie.’

A video of Gaga and Phoenix’s awkward reaction to being
asked if Folie à Deux was ‘everything they expected’
    went viral amid the backlash.

For a few seconds, the two stars sat in silence as they both waited for the other
    to answer the question.

‘Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,’ Gaga said to her costar as she held out a fake microphone in front
    of him.

‘It’s so hard to talk about but I think we feel like we
achieved what we set out to do,’ he replied.

  5. Russell Crowe has argued that the rise of independent politicians are better
representing the views of everyday Australians, unlike the two-party-dominated system in the United States.

The Oscar-winning actor made the claim in response to podcast host Joe Rogan  complaining that
Americans were ‘completely trapped in the two-party system’.

‘We have the same sort of situation, but we have a very interesting thing that’s happening in Australia
at the moment, which is the rise of independents,’ Crowe countered.

‘The main parties have to deal with the fact those independents have to bring a
non-party-line series of points to the argument.

‘And it’s working well. It’s working for us. In that it’s making both of the main parties re-examine who
they are and what they stand for.

Rogan mused ‘we could use that here, for sure’, highlighting
how US politics is completely dominated by the Democrat and Republican parties.

There are other parties, including the Green, Libertarian, and Reform parties, but these receive vanishingly few votes in comparison.

Independent candidates can also stand and have been known to perform well on occasion.

The Oscar-winning actor (pictured ) made the observation in response to podcast host Joe Rogan who complained that Americans were ‘completely
    trapped in the two-party system’

Joe Rogan (pictured) is one of the most powerful media figures
    in the world

Civil rights opponent George Wallace ran a third-party campaign in the 1968 US election which saw him garner 10 million votes and take five southern states, while another disaffected
Democrat, Strom Thurmond, in 1948 carried four southern states on a similarly
racist platform but with only a million votes.

The nephew of a president, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was poised to get
on the ballot in dozens of states as an independent candidate before
he pulled out and backed Republican Donald Trump.

He has now been appointed Health secretary in Trump’s
    incoming cabinet.

Trump himself had previously belonged to the Reform Party.

The former New York property developer had even considered running for president in the 2000 election under the
banner of that movement – formed by former
third-party presidential candidate Ross Perot, who won 19 per cent of the popular vote in 1992 but gained no electoral college votes.

Perot was the most popular minority party candidate since former Republican president Teddy Roosevelt in 1912 ran as the Bull Moose Party candidate – carrying six states including California and coming second ahead
    of Republican William Taft.

Australia has seen a rise in recent years of nominally independent politicians who have taken votes away from the two traditional parties of Labor and the Liberal-National coalition

This situation is helped by a strong Green party who now have 12
senators and four members in the House of Representatives.

Zali Steggall (pictured) became the first Teal independent to
achieve huge success when she ousted former prime minister
Tony Abbott in his seat in Sydney’s northern beaches at the 2019 election

Meanwhile, independent candidates who run on strong climate platforms but are fiscally conservative have been labelled ‘teal’ candidates.

This is because they have combined their ‘green’ views on climate with the traditional ‘blue’ approach of the centre-right Liberal Party.

Zali Steggall became the first Teal independent to achieve huge success
when she ousted former prime minister Tony Abbott in his seat in Sydney’s
northern beaches at the 2019 election.

In similar fashion, Monique Ryan won the traditionally Liberal
seat from former treasurer Josh Frydenberg at the
    2022 election.

She was one of seven Teals elected, swelling the lower house crossbench to 15, with this tally
including the four Greens, three conservative independents and progressive Andrew Wilkie.

Crowe’s three-hour conversation with Rogan, which was first aired
in August, has recently resurfaced in Teal social media
    adverts.

They are being pushed by Melbourne philanthropist Simon Holmes à Court, who founded Climate
200, which has given campaign funding to some Teal candidates.

Not all independents elected in 2022 were Teals, however.

Maverick independent Bob Katter has just celebrated
50 years in parliament (pictured: being congratulated by prime minister Anthony
    Albanese)

Dai Lee, a former state Liberal candidate, defeated former Labor frontbencher and former NSW Labor premier Kristina Keneally
in the south-west Sydney seat of Fowler.

And, of course, maverick Bob Katter who has just celebrated 50 years in parliament, spending 20 years as a Queensland state MP before serving the
past three decades in federal parliament as the MP for the regional
far north Queensland electorate of Kennedy.

Among his many mad-hat policies over the years include a bid
to teach school kids how to fire rifles and a desire to build a missile shield across northern Australia.

The House of Representatives crossbench grew to 16 in late 2022 when Andrew Gee
quit the Nationals in protest at its opposition to the Indigenous Voice to Parliament.

The Greens and independents make up 11 per cent of the 151-member lower house – the highest proportion of
non major party MPs since Federation in 1901.

  17. The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may
soon occupy the White House is not named Kamala
    Harris.

In her new No.1 New York Times best-selling memoir, Melania Trump
shares a revealing look into her personal
life and journey – from a childhood in small-town Slovenia, to globetrotting pursuits
as a young model, to her courtship and marriage to
one of the world’s most famous men.

She also corrects the record, challenges her critics and clarifies her positions
on a range of issues from abortion (she’s pro-choice) to the inclusion of biological men in women’s sports (female athletes must always be ‘protected and respected’).

In fact, she sounds like many female voters grappling with the whiplash
changes wrought by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s time in the White
    House.

The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may
soon occupy the White House is not named Kamala Harris. (Pictured: Kellyanne with Donald and Melania Trump at the White House in 2019).

‘The country is suffering,’ she writes. ‘We have wars around the world…

The border is open and dangerous… a lot of fentanyl is coming over and killing our
youth…. The economy is really not great, inflation is high.’

I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her as a friend.

She has been unfairly maligned and the target of
so much speculation and prevarication. That
is why it has been so wonderful to see her own ‘October Surprise’, a memoir
in her own words on her own timeline, showing the measured, magnanimous woman tens of millions of Americans adore.

Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks
apart. Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every
effort to be there for me. She and President Trump called, sent flowers,
handwritten notes and checked in with me time and again.

After my divorce was finalized last year, Melania showed
up again, supporting me as any caring friend would and encouraging me to swing
open soldered doors following a time of personal upheaval
    and transition.

    EXCLUSIVE

KELLYANNE CONWAY: Don’s back! Here’s his new 2024
    blueprint

And it was the same story when we worked together in the White House.
While Jill Biden has insisted on being called ‘Doctor’, Melania was admired and beloved by the political
and permanent staffers alike, asking after their children by name, welcoming them
to events big and small, and treating them with inclusivity and respect.

Known as a protective and present mother, Melania now uses her
memoir to call out the ‘sheer malice’ of unfunny comic Rosie O’Donnell who,
in 2016, tweeted despicable and totally unfounded claims about Barron, then aged
    10.

It was just weeks after Trump had stunned the world and won, and the same liberal
media and Hollywood types, who perpetuated every vicious attack against him, reveled as O’Donnell’s vile
lie wormed its way across social media.

It was a shock to see such naked cruelty towards a First Child,
especially when so many of us had treated Chelsea Clinton and the Obama daughters
like Fabergé eggs. Kids (including mine) should always be off limits.

I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her
as a friend. (Pictured together in 2018 visiting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center).

Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.

Even as she navigated her loss in public view,
Melania made every effort to be there for me. She and President Trump
called, sent flowers, handwritten notes and checked in with me time
and again. (Pictured: Together with Trump in the White House in 2019).

But instead of going to war, Melania acted swiftly and
tenderly to shield her son. She channeled maternal outrage into a first lady’s focus on initiatives centered around children’s wellness
and cyberbullying awareness. Her ‘Be Best’ campaign remains a highlight of her time in office.

Melania has never been one for preening and posturing. Other first ladies
used their roles to land on the cover of fashion magazines,
but she did so on her own, years before, as a successful model.

Even when I’ve suggested she push back on myriad false claims made by the media or ungrateful former staffers who have returned her trust
in them with self-serving lies and revisionist history, she has declined, knowing that her silence is always more powerful.

Behind closed doors, Trump has, for decades, regarded his wife as a top confidante
and counselor. Whether as an international business mogul, a TV star or, lately, leader of
the free world, it is Melania’s opinion that he has
    consistently sought.

Trump enjoys the company of plenty of friends, taking a
range of advice, but he speaks of – and to – Melania in an entirely unique way.
Really, he fears yet reveres her. He respects her independence, seeks her input, trusts her keen eye,
sharp ear and sense of people.

I have witnessed their relationship up close,
and it is one fundamentally built on mutual love and respect.
Recently, as Barron was heading off for college and
Melania was preparing to publish her memoir, I jokingly
asked Trump how it might feel to be the second most popular man and the second most prominent author in the household.
    He chuckled and relented.

Melania Trump has plenty to say and nothing to prove.

She is not a typical political spouse rushing to the cameras on matters that are best
handled privately, or loudly offering insights or slights about her husband’s political opponents à la Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama.

She is an asset, a partner, an equal who is neither trying to control – looking
at you, Jill Biden – nor controlled by her partner.
She is what many feminists insist they are: independent, a product of her own choices,
    comfortable in her own skin.

She has been by Trump’s side the entire time. Though never in his shadow.
In fact, from that very first moment they descended the golden escalator,
    she’s been leading the way.

Tim Dillon, who makes a brief appearance in Joker: Folie à Deux,
has described the new sequel as ‘terrible’ and ‘the worst film ever
    made’.

The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as
Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Lady Gaga as Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn), faced
negative reviews from critics before its October 4 release and flopped at the box office.

Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the
movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has ‘no plot’ and admitted he
knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said: ‘It’s the worst film ever made.

‘I think what happened, after the first Joker, there was a lot of talk like,
‘Oh, this was loved by incels. This was loved by the wrong kinds of people.
This sent the wrong kind of message. Male rage! Nihilism!
    All these think pieces.

Tim Dillon, who makes a brief appearance in Joker:
Folie à Deux, has described the new sequel as ‘terrible’ and ‘the worst film ever made’

The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring
Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Lady Gaga as Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn),
faced negative reviews from critics before its October 4 release and flopped at the box
    office

‘And then I think, ‘What if we went the other way,’ and now they have Joaquin Phoenix
and Lady Gaga tap dancing to a point where
    it’s insane.’

He continued: ‘It has no plot. We would sit there, me and these other
guys were all dressed in these security outfits because we’re working at the Arkham
Asylum, and I would turn to one of them and we’d hear this crap and I’d go, ‘What the f*** is
this?’ And they’d go, ‘This is going to bomb, man.’ I go, ‘This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.’

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, ‘What is the plot?
Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love
with her in the prison?’ It’s not even hate-watchable.
    That’s how terrible it is.’

Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel took to social media after its release last month
to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.

The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic box office,
good enough for the weekend’s top spot, but less than projections, and half that of its predecessor.

Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature
of sequels to introduce a musical element not
present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.

‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was ‘100% as divisive as people are making
it out to be. I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel,
and fully committed to the storytelling they presented. It never deviated to be a film
full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the
first film’s fandom and the musical elements were a lot of fun.’

Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie,

Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel took to social media after its release last month to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture

One user marvelled that Joker 2 is ‘getting universal hate despite being more interesting
and creative than anything marvel has done in years is
    expected.’

It comes after lead star Lady Gaga was left ‘disappointed’ at the immense flood of negative reactions to
Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer’s team now keen to quickly push out other projects to
help distract from the furore over the film, insiders claim.

Todd Phillips‘ sequel has bombed, raking in just
under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history.

Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka
Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the
Joker – a role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake of the standing ovation it received at
the Venice Film Festival last month.

‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is
shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered,’ a source exclusively told
    DailyMail.com.

‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect
for the DC comics fan base.’

They added: ‘Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they
want to move on this from as quickly as possible.’

with the singer’s team now keen to quickly push out other projects to
help distract from the furor over the film, insiders claim

But despite the lacklustre reception from fans, a second source
claimed she is not letting it deter her from returning to
the big screen, with the singer said to be eyeing up a Quentin Tarantino movie.

‘She is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb,
    ‘ they said.

‘She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially
since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar.

‘She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film.
Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition.

‘She’s going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him once a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment for
    her to be involved.’

Anyone who knows me has invariably been subject to a spiel about
how much I love Claudia Winkleman. In part, it’s because she’s so silly, and in part, it’s because I’m a huge fan of everything she presents,
    from Strictly to The Traitors.

But even more than any of that, it’s because I’m obsessed with everything she wears.
I’ve spent a fortune copying her exact outfits, from her Sister Jane heart cutout dress to a bedazzled Nadine Merabi blazer that I definitely don’t go anywhere fancy enough to wear.

Since 2005, Claudia has worked with stylist Sinead
McKeefry to perfect her signature style. I’d describe it as soft goth:
lots of black, velvet and chunky knits, with a fair few sequins and prints (particularly tartan) thrown in. I’m not alone in my reverence:
there are entire Instagram accounts dedicated to tracking down the presenter’s outfits.
But while they offer incredibly useful style inspo,
two issues arise repeatedly: Claudia’s clothes are usually hugely expensive or sold out
    (or both).

So when the Strictly host stepped out in a typically preppy
black velvet mini dress on Sunday, you’d be forgiven for assuming
it was by some top-end designer. Well, you’d be wrong. The mini dress actually came courtesy of one of our favourite
high street brands, Albaray – and you can pick it up for less than £100.

The dress is made from plush fabric with contrast satin detailing.
The velvet makes it a little festive, perfect for celebratory
bashes over the next few months, particularly when paired with white stilettos à la Claud.
But it could be just as easily dressed down with white trainers or
ballet flats and a trench for a chic office outfit, so you’ll certainly get your wear out of it.

Like all of Albaray’s products, it’s ethically made using responsible fabric and sent via a
carbon-neutral shipping method, so you can feel good about the dress’s eco-credentials as well as how it looks.
It’s currently in stock in a few sizes online (and in certain John Lewis concessions) but like
most things Claudia wears, it won’t stick around long.
Now excuse me while I go and add to cart.

Collar and Cuff Velvet Dress, £99, Albaray

  23. Smile 2 – starring Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage and
Jack Nicholson’s son Ray – emerged as the winner after a horror movie box office
    showdown.

The fright flick eclipsed hot contender Terrifier 3 for the top spot.

The Smile sequel starring Scott, 31,  as a pop star who begins experiencing terrifying and inexplicable events as she
prepares for a world tour, opened wide in more than 3,600 theaters,
pulling in a payday of $23 million.

Ray, whose mom is Nicholson’s former partner Rebecca Broussard, shocked fans with an eerie grin in the new movie, which was near-identical to the Oscar-winner’s maniacal smile
as Jack Torrance in the 1980 Stanley Kubrick classic, The Shining.

In a legendary scene, an insane Jack hacks at a bathroom door with an axe
as his cowering wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) screams inside.
As he busts a hole in the door, he sticks his face through, grins
and exclaims: ‘Here’s Johnny!’ in an improvised line.

The original Smile, released in September 2022, and starring Sosie Bacon, was a sleeper hit, which was well received and earned $217,408,513 globally.

Smile 2 has received a 83-percent critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes
and an 83-percent Popcornmeter rating from audiences.

Smile 2 stars Jack Nicholson’s son Ray (left). In the new horror, he
recreated the Oscar-winner’s maniacal smile as Jack Torrance in the 1980
    Stanley Kubrick classic, The Shining

Smile 2’s big win at the box office has production companies Paramount
Pictures and Temple Hill beaming from ear to ear.
The fright flight opened in first place with a
    payday of $23 million

  27. Jackie O Henderson has left her father Tony
red-faced after a shocking stunt in which he was
tricked into reading about her threesome live on-air.

The awkward family exchange occurred on Tuesday’s Kyle
and Jackie O Show when the radio queen and co-host
Kyle Sandilands were discussing Jackie’s new memoir The Whole
    Truth.

Before getting her father on the line, Jackie explained to
listeners that she was about to get an unsuspecting Tony to
read an excerpt that detailed a night of passion with
then boyfriend ‘Ugly’ Phil O’Neil and a 19-year-old stripper.

‘So this is going back to my Gold Coast days when I had met
Phil who [later became] my first husband,’ the 49-year-old explained.

‘I had only just met him at this point. I think [we were] two months
    into seeing each other.’

Jackie then prompted her unprepared father to read the excerpt that detailed Phil’s living situation with the stripper
and another, rather unsavory ‘stoner’ flatmate.

‘He lived in a place in Main Beach that felt like a motel with two
weird flatmates. One was a stoner guy who would sit there blazed out of his gourd,
‘ Tony read from Jackie’s book.

Jackie O Henderson has left her father Tony a little red faced after making
him read about her first threesome live on air

The book then turned to Jackie’s first ménage à trois.

‘Then there was the stripper they lived with [named] Christie,’ Tony
    read.

‘We went out to a nightclub one night and we came home and we were having sex and Christie decided
    she wanted to join us.

‘The idea of a threesome had obviously never occurred to me
before I had never even considered it because it didn’t sound

Tony soldiered on with the revealing passage which revealed that
Jackie and Phil’s third was only interested in one half
    of the equation.

‘I had no idea what to do – she was this cute 19-year-old with a dark bob and an amazing body
but she was only into women,’ Tony continued.

‘Phil was really excited but Christie kept slapping him
away. She did her thing and then left.’

When Kyle asked Jackie to clarify what she meant by ‘did her thing’,
a sheepish Jackie replied: ‘Let’s not talk about this in front of my dad, shall we.’

Despite the raciness of the content he had just read from his daughter’s book, Tony admitted he was not shocked by the revelations.

‘Am I amazed? Probably not,’ he said.

‘I’m sort of trying to take all of this in. After all, its my daughter we’re talking about.
If it was somebody else, it would be a different story altogether.
    I’d be so excited.

‘I’ve been round the block a few times. I understand how these things
    happen.’

Another passage in the book revealed a very awkward encounter between Phil’s male flatmate and Jackie’s mother
    Julie.

‘My mum came over once and when no one answered the
door, she put her face to the screen to see inside and that flatmate was right there in the living room, pants down, w***ing,’ a shocked
    Tony read.

The revelations come after Jackie spoke for the first time about her years-long battle with
drugs which saw her secretly go to rehab at The Betty
Ford Clinic in November in 2022.

During a tearful on-air admission, Jackie said at the height of her addiction, she took around 10-12 Stilnox/Ambien sleeping pills and 24 Panadeine Forte painkillers a day.

Audacious, different, bold and brilliant! Joker: Folie
a Deux is a punchline five years in the making, and boy is it worth
    the wait, writes BRIAN VINER

Five years have passed since the triumphant opening of Joker at
the Venice Film Festival. I still vividly remember reeling out of a morning screening, dazzled less by the unforgiving glare
of the Venetian sun than by the movie we’d just been shown.

Five years have passed since the triumphant opening of Joker at the Venice Film Festival.

I still vividly remember reeling out of a morning screening, dazzled less by the unforgiving glare of the Venetian sun than by the movie we’d just been shown.

Last night, here in Venice, came the world premiere of
the sequel, Joker: Folie a Deux The director is again Todd Phillips, with
Joaquin Phoenix once more in the title role, this time joined by Lady Gaga as what I suppose we must call
the love interest, although that would undervalue her wonderful performance.

The film is audaciously different in style from the original, not quite as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all the same.

It begins with a kind of sinister jauntiness with a Joker animation in the style of a Tom & Jerry cartoon, to
show that since the events of the first movie, Arthur Fleck along with his murderous alter ego has become a
cultural phenomenon in Gotham City. There has even been a TV movie about him.

Joaquin Phoenix is once more in the title role, this time joined by Lady Gaga as what I suppose we must call the love interest, although that would undervalue her wonderful performance

The film is audaciously different in style from the original, not
quite as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all the same

Joker: Folie a Deux is released on October 4,
2024 and will premiere at the 81st annual Venice Film Festival

But Arthur is behind bars, waiting to see whether
he will be judged sane enough to stand trial for murder, and in the meantime enjoying his celebrity status both with fellow prisoners and even the warders,
one of whom, a sadistic Irishman played by Brendan Gleeson, feeds him cigarettes in return for jokes.

Lady Gaga plays Lee, a fellow inmate on her way, we suppose, to becoming Joker’s
girlfriend Harley Quinn. The pair hit it off
at a music therapy class, and are soon mutually smitten, but Lee makes
it clear that she loves the dangerously charismatic
Joker, ‘clown prince of crime’, not the gloomily introspective Arthur.

Indeed, identity confusion is the theme of this film, which delves even deeper than the original
into schizophrenia and other types of mental illness.

It’s been said that Folie a Deux is a musical. It’s not,
but music looms large as an expression of Arthur and Lee’s burgeoning love for one another.
It is while watching Vincente Minnelli’s 1953 classic The Band Wagon that Lee, who claims to have been imprisoned for arson, sets fire to their prison wing.

The ensuing chaos provides an excellent opportunity to escape, yet
Phillips and his co-writer Scott Silver toy with our expectations throughout; each time we anticipate which
way the narrative is going to go, it confounds us by wheeling off in another direction.

The music is a constant, though, with Lady Gaga giving her interpretation of lovely old Burt Bacharach and even Motown numbers, and Phoenix more
than holding his own. There are also a couple of swooning dance routines that make Arthur and Lee
look like psychotic versions of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in La La Land.

Eventually, after Arthur’s high-profile TV appearance with a smug interviewer played by Steve Coogan, it is
time for the trial, with all of Gotham gripped by the subject of multiple personality disorder.

Is Arthur the defendant accused of five murders, or is it Joker?
His kindly lawyer (Catherine Keener) wants to make clear it is
Arthur; Lee just as urgently wants him to identify as Joker.

Lady Gaga plays Lee, a fellow inmate on her
way, we suppose, to becoming Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn

For those cinema-goers who consider Joker: Folie a Deux to be just another unnecessary Batman spin-off, you should maybe think again

All this is compellingly directed by Phillips, and superbly acted by Phoenix especially, in a role for which he
seems custom-made, but by Gaga too. We’ve known since A Star is
Born in 2018 that she can act, but she really is terrific in a bad-girl role.
They’d have loved her at St Trinians.

As for those cinema-goers who consider Joker: Folie a Deux to
be just another unnecessary Batman spin-off, you should maybe think
    again.

This might not quite be in the top rank of films about mental illness, alongside
all-time greats such as Psycho and One Flew Over
the Cuckoo’s Nest. But it’s not too far off.

Joker: Folie a Deux opens in the UK on October 4, 2024.

  31. Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album
    in February.

Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100 at No.
27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next
album, which she described as both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’

Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project, Gaga said that she’s been focused on the production side of her new songs.

‘I love producing — I always have — and something that was really important to me making
my seventh studio album was blending live instrumentation with programming,’ she explained.

‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective — it is genre-bending, and I
think in that way is a deeply personal look into my mind as a
producer and the way I think about music.’

She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with her iconic 2009
    album, The Fame Monster.

However, fans need not be worried that Gaga is going too
    somber with her sound.

‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and meant to be enjoyed at a
party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time — to be free of your worries
at home or walking through life,’ she insisted.

Lady Gaga is focused on releasing her seventh studio album this February following the disappointing reception to lead single Disease

Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews from music critics, who lauded it as a return to the star’s roots.

Unfortunately, the acclaim failed to translate
to the charts, with Disease debuting at No. 27 on the Hot
100 – her worst entry for a lead single in 16 years.

On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one of her biggest hits in years thanks to her Bruno Mars
    duet, Die With a Smile.

The ballad has so far reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No.
1 on the Pop Airplay Chart.

It comes after Gaga’s leading role in the disastrous Joker:
    Folie à Deux.

The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as
Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Gaga as Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn), faced negative reviews from critics before its October
4 release and flopped at the box office.

Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has
‘no plot’ and admitted he knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said:
‘It’s the worst film ever made.

Gaga told Vogue magazine that she’s been focused on the production side
    of her new songs

Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews
from music critics, but the song flopped on the Hot 100

‘I think what happened, after the first Joker, there was a lot of talk
like, “Oh, this was loved by incels. This was loved by the wrong kinds of people. This sent the wrong kind of message. Male rage! Nihilism!”
    All these think pieces.

‘And then I think, “What if we went the other way,” and now they have Joaquin Phoenix and
Lady Gaga tap dancing to a point where it’s insane,’ he continued.

‘It has no plot. We would sit there, me and these other guys were all dressed in these security
outfits because we’re working at the Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to
one of them and we’d hear this crap and I’d go, “What the f*** is this?”
And they’d go, “This is going to bomb, man.” I go, “This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.”

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, “What is the plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?” It’s
not even hate-watchable. That’s how terrible it is.’

  39. The cost for one of London’s most pricey apartments will begin at
£35million – with 600 megarich customers already securing
a spot on the waiting list.

Pricing details of billionaire John Caudwell’s spectacular 1 Mayfair development have now been revealed and only those with the
deepest pockets can hope to afford one of
    the lavish pads.

The cheapest apartment on offer is expected to be an eye-watering £35million – around
70 times the average cost of a house in the capital.

Due to complete in Spring 2026 the scheme will easily surpass London’s previous record breaker, the
£1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge.

Caudwell told The Standard that there are already more than 600 prospective buyers on a waiting list of billionaires and centi-millionaires who have expressed an interest in making a purchase at
    the scheme.

There will be just 24 ‘principal residences’ in the property including lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses with
up to five bedrooms, and five more smaller ‘pieds-à-terre’ apartments.

The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the
developers say even the most modest property will start with a guide price exceeded by only a handful
of mansions in London’s richest neighbourhoods.

The average price of all 29 units – which cover 300,000 sq ft – will be close to £70million.

The entry level price of £35million is 70 times the average London property value of around £500,000, and 130 times the national average price of £268,000 revealed in today’s Nationwide house price survey for November.

The development’s basement is being dug down to 90ft below ground level to make room
for a health spa with a 20 metre swimming pool as well as a
    car park.

The designs were led by New York based architect Robert Stern and practice
RAMSA, with contractors, Mace, the construction managers and PJ Carey responsible for the creation of the basement substructure
    and superstructure.

Due to complete in Spring 2026 after a six years build the scheme
will easily surpass London’s previous record breaker, the £1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge.

Caudwell – who founded the mobile phones retailers Phones 4u – attended the topping out of 1 Mayfair alongside senior members of the construction team.

The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one of 79 at roof level,
being put into place on the top of the nine-storey
    main apartment building.

No expense has been spared on the building’s interior and it will
feature a ceiling with hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo’s Map of the Heavens in the Vatican, a reception room with a
double height ceiling and 18ft high French windows overlooking the garden.

There will also be a Palace of Versailles Hall of Mirrors-style crystal callery, created from over 1,264 hand-set pieces of
cut glass, a library and a garden gallery, with seating
areas opening directly onto the central courtyard garden.

  43. Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album in February.

Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100 at
No. 27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next album, which she described as both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’

Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project, Gaga said that she’s been focused on the production side of her new songs.

‘I love producing — I always have — and something that was really important to me making my seventh studio
album was blending live instrumentation with programming,’ she explained.

‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective — it
is genre-bending, and I think in that way is a deeply
personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about
    music.’

She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with her iconic 2009 album, The Fame Monster.

However, fans need not be worried that Gaga is going too somber with her sound.

‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and meant to be enjoyed at a party,
in a club, or at home having personal fun time — to be
free of your worries at home or walking through life,’ she
    insisted.

Lady Gaga is focused on releasing her seventh studio album
this February following the disappointing reception to lead single
    Disease

Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month
to rave reviews from music critics, who lauded it as a return to the
    star’s roots.

Unfortunately, the acclaim failed to translate to the charts, with Disease debuting at
No. 27 on the Hot 100 – her worst entry for a lead single in 16 years.

On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one of her biggest hits in years thanks to her Bruno Mars duet,
    Die With a Smile.

The ballad has so far reached No.
2 on the Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Pop Airplay Chart.

It comes after Gaga’s leading role in the disastrous Joker: Folie à Deux.

The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as
Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Gaga as Lee Quinzel (Harley
Quinn), faced negative reviews from critics before its October 4 release and flopped at the box
    office.

Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has ‘no
plot’ and admitted he knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast,
Tim said: ‘It’s the worst film ever made.

Gaga told Vogue magazine that she’s been focused on the production side
    of her new songs

Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease
last month to rave reviews from music critics, but
the song flopped on the Hot 100

‘I think what happened, after the first Joker, there
was a lot of talk like, “Oh, this was loved by incels. This was loved by the wrong kinds of people. This sent the wrong kind of message. Male rage! Nihilism!” All these think pieces.

‘And then I think, “What if we went the other way,” and now they have Joaquin Phoenix and
Lady Gaga tap dancing to a point where it’s insane,’ he
    continued.

‘It has no plot. We would sit there, me and these other guys were all dressed
in these security outfits because we’re working at the
Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to one of them and we’d hear this crap and I’d go, “What the f*** is this?” And they’d go, “This is going to bomb, man.” I go,
“This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.”

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go,
“What is the plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?” It’s not even hate-watchable.
    That’s how terrible it is.’

  44. July 23 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International pushed the test-launch of its heated tobacco device, IQOS, in the U.S.
to the fourth quarter on Tuesday and lowered its annual forecast
    for the heated tobacco business.

The pilot was earlier scheduled to run in Austin, Texas, in the second quarter, for which the company reported results on the day.

The company declined to comment on why the launch had been delayed.

Philip Morris has invested billions to promote and expand its portfolio of alternatives to
traditional combustible cigarettes amid stricter regulations and falling
    smoking rates in some markets.

The launch of its flagship heated tobacco device in the United States is also facing resistance from health campaigners, who
have written to regulators in the country accusing the company of misrepresenting
past regulatory decisions, Reuters reported last week.

The company also awaits market authorization from the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration for its IQOS ILUMA device,
which it expects by the second half of 2025.

A ban on flavored heated tobacco in the European Union has already hit shipments this year, with Philip Morris saying the impact
from the ban was “slightly greater” than previously assumed.

This led the company to temper its expectations for
volume growth in the heated tobacco category to around
13% for the full year, down from between 14% and 16% expected earlier.

However, Philip Morris topped quarterly expectations and raised its annual sales and profit
forecasts, betting on demand for its Zyn nicotine pouches, as well as
higher cigarette pricing. (Reporting by Juveria Tabassum and Emma
